Appointment DNAs (Did Not Attend) Policy

We understand that it is not always possible to attend booked appointments. However, should you be unable to attend a booked appointment, we appreciate it if you could contact the surgery to cancel. This would allow us to offer the appointments to other patients. Due to an increasing number of DNAs causing large numbers of wasted appointments within the practice, patients who fail to attend or fail to cancel 3 appointments within a continuous 12 month period, will be removed from the practice list. The practice will write to the patients who fail to attend their first and second appointments.

Patient Online Access

Patient online access is now available. Please visit Do It Online for more information about how to register to book appointments and order prescriptions online. Alternatively, ask our receptionists for the necessary forms to register for online access.

Struggling for an appointment?

We can now access an Extended Hours Service and can offer GP, nurse and HCA appointments at the Avenue Medical Centre during the evenings and at the weekends. Monday to Friday 18:30 to 20:00, Saturday 09:00 to 17:00.

To book an appointment simply call the reception who will arrange an appointment at a time that suits you best. They will have access to your medical record and can issue prescriptions if required and deal with other matters appropriately should the need arise.

Valentine Medical Centre is a trainee practice

Valentine Medical Centre has completed a rigorous process of quality improvement and additional training within the practice. As a result of this we are now accredited to supervise junior doctors and contribute to their education and training. These junior doctors will be seeing patients at Valentine Medical Centre. They will be attached to one of our GP partners and fully supported. If any support is needed during or following the consultation the supervising GP partner will be immediately available on the telephone or to physically “pop in"

As a patient, before accepting an appointment with a junior doctor, you will be informed of the doctors training status and we will only complete the appointment booking with your full consent. Appointments available with our junior doctors are in addition to the usual number of daily appointments offered by our GP partners.
